Orange polkadots

Yeah for me! I am having a tinny week. Had a win on the horses on Tuesday and have just discovered that I have won this cute as a button, shirred top for my Ellie from another Ellie who haunts the blogsphere. I have no idea how Miss Ellieboo does all she does. I am constant awe of what she packs into her week. Go check out what she is up to now. I tell you she never seems to sit still!

Will post shots of my girl flitting about and strutting her usual attitude later.

Something I made for a little person

Many things have been made for little people at our place of late. The Rooster has gone all superhero mad and was talking on and on about a cape. It was just the sort of motivation I needed to get that new sewing machine out of the box. We chose the fabric together, did some measurements and tucked him into bed on the promise that it would be waiting for him when he woke up. I like a deadline. Without a deadline there is room for procrastination.

I couldn't face a disappointed Rooster at 5 in the morning.
The Rooster can't see the crooked seams or the mismatched edges. He thinks it's pretty ace.

This next little person something was created long before there was a little person. In my early twenties I was into cross-stitching. I have pillowcases full of unfinished work. I think that this may have been my first project. I must have known that one day I would have a little girl.
I had completely forgotten about it until I stumbled upon in the big, decluttering, clean out.

My last little something is a just a little too big something. We found this wardrobe on the side of the road just after I had a conversation with Tools suggesting that we might need one in Missy's new room.
I have spent four days painting this wardrobe, only finishing it up tonight.

We have just one teeny, tiny problem. We can't get it up the stairs.
You would think we would have worked this out before we striped and sanded and painted.
Many thanks to Mary-Jane for this weeks theme. You should see what she made for a little person. And of course to our hostess Miss bugandpop.

Ta dah!

Because my daughter has masses of silky, shiny hair and because I have spent way too much on hair accessories in just 10 months to keep said hair from flopping in eyes, I thought that I might try my hand at making this little things.

Watercolours

When the Rooster was a newborn, I was lucky enough to stumble upon a unique Mothers Group. An annex of The Womens Room, the mothers group was a place where new mothers could meet to nurture our soulful and creative selves. Along with the sleep deprivation, feeding issues and poo talk we had time set aside to discuss the more pertinent issues such as The Myth of the Perfect Mother, Door to Motherhood, Motherguilt and Loss of Self. After our discussion we would have the opportunity to express ourselves in various art mediums. It was truly an invaluable experience and I have met some amazing women who I would now consider some of my best friends.

Three years on and the group is still running. Today's topic was sibling rivalry, ever so relevant after the birth of a new baby. After a short meditation (no easy task with children and babies moving about) focusing on a walk in a garden, our art activity was to paint the flowers we visualised using watercolours. This is what I came up with.

The Rooster had a go as well. He likes to draw cars and splats in his favourite colour green.

This was just what I needed today. I feel re-energised to begin my working week tomorrow where there is often very little time for a little head space and creativity.
